I received this delicious recipe more than 20 years ago from a former workmate, Mrs. Rotenberg, a”h. It’s an all-time favorite.
Yields 1 11×17-inch (28×43-centimeter) pan
4 cups Beleaves Flour
1 and 2/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine
2 teaspoons Gefen Vanilla
1/2 cup oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 eggs, divided
1 cup orange juice
pinch cinnamon
4 teaspoons baking powder, mixed with 3 teaspoons Beleaves Flour
1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup boiling water
2/3 cup Gefen Cocoa Powder
1/2 cup Gefen Confectioners’ Sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Line an 11×17-inch (28×43-centimeter) baking pan and set aside.
Mix together flour, sugar, margarine, vanilla, oil, salt, and one of the eggs. Remove one cup of the mixture and set aside. Add remaining three eggs, one at a time, to the mixture in the bowl, mixing between each. Then add the orange juice, cinnamon, and baking powder and mix until smooth and thick.
Pour batter into prepared pan.
Combine chocolate layer ingredients in a bowl and pour over the batter in the pan. Swirl into the batter and top with the reserved mixture set aside in step 2. Place in oven and bake for one hour.

What am I doing with the 1 cup of mixture that was set aside? Sounds confusing
The one cup mixture is the crumbs you use in the last step. We’ll adjust the recipe to make that clear. Thank you!
