When I’m cooking a nice piece of meat, I often find myself heading back to trusty, tasty onion soup mix (no MSG, of course!). Since we’re all so busy now, with one seudah right after the next in an endless cooking marathon, I wanted to create a meat recipe that would be simple to prepare and, of course, decadently soft and crowd-pleasing. You can’t get much easier than this!
8 minute steaks (around 2 and 1/2 pounds/1.1 kilogram) or 4 club steaks
2 tablespoons Lipton Onion Soup Mix
5 heaping tablespoons crispy fried onions, divided
3 tablespoons water
8 ounces (225 grams) Gefen Whole-Berry Cranberry Sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 scant teaspoon Gefen Mustard
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
Rinse minute steaks and pat them dry; place in a baking pan. Sprinkle with onion soup mix and rub into meat. Sprinkle two heaping tablespoons fried onions over steaks and add water to the pan. Cover tightly and bake for one and a half hours.
Meanwhile, combine the remaining three tablespoons fried onions with the cranberry sauce, salt, and mustard in a small mixing bowl. Remove steaks from oven and spoon three to four tablespoons gravy into the sauce, stirring to combine. Spread sauce over the steaks and cover again. Return to oven and bake an additional 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes. Baste with gravy and serve.
