Diets This recipe is a quick hack for original shlishkes, which are small potato dumplings (or gnocchi) traditionally rolled in browned bread crumbs. These mock shlishkes take just minutes to prepare using cooked macaroni. This is a great kid-friendly side dish to make on a weeknight.
3/4 cup Gefen Bread Crumbs
2 tablespoons oil
1 package macaroni, such as Tuscanini Fusilli, cooked and drained
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
Toast bread crumbs in oil.
When browned, add macaroni, salt and sugar and heat thoroughly for five minutes.
