Mojito, the refreshing Cuban cocktail made with lime, mint and rum is deliciously sweet, tangy and minty. I wanted to make a family-friendly drink using the same flavors, and I remembered that last summer a friend served me chilled water infused with cucumbers, which made the water extra cooling. More recently, I read that green tea might protect our bodies against the damaging UV sun rays. I put all those ideas into this beverage that easily calms anyone.

Ingredients

Mojito-Inspired Iced Green Tea

  • 6 cups water

  • 4 bags Wissotzky Green Tea

  • 6 to 8 fresh mint sprigs, plus more for garnish

  • 2 Persian cucumbers, sliced into thin rounds

  • 3 limes

  • 2 tablespoons raw agave nectar, or to taste

  • ice, to taste

Directions

1.

In a tea kettle or a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and add the tea bags and mint sprigs. Let them brew for three to five minutes and remove bags and mint.

2.

Squeeze limes (you should get between 1/3 to 1/2 cup juice) into a measuring cup and add into it, the agave nectar. Mix with a spoon and add sweetened juice to tea mixture. Mix and pour tea into a pitcher. Let cool.

3.

Once cold, add in cucumbers and ice. Let sit for at least 20 minutes and it’s ready to serve. Garnish with extra mint.

4.

Keeps well refrigerated for up to three days.

Variation:

Use sugar (although you’ll need about three tablespoons) or two tablespoons honey instead of agave.
