Diets This Moldovan Cheese Pie is a savory pie filled with cheese and dill. It can be prepared in advance and baked frozen. Perfect as an appetizer or main dish.
4 cups flour
1 and 1/4 cups water
1 tablespoon salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil plus more when rolling out dough
2 cups chopped fresh dill
1 cup crumbled feta
1 pound farmer’s cheese (you can substitute queso blanco)
Mix all the flour ingredients together and knead until it forms a cohesive ball. If you need add more flour or water if dough is too dry or sticky do so one tablespoon at a time
Refrigerate dough for at least one and a half hours (up to 12 hours).
Prepare the Filling: Mix the ingredients for the filling and set aside.
Divide dough into three equal parts. Roll out one part of dough until almost paper thin. Spread oil over it.
Add one third of the filling. Roll log into spiral.
Repeat with remaining dough.
Brush dough with egg (optional). Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about an hour. Let cool and serve.
