It’s time for weeknight dinners again. One of my favorite recipes in Dinner Done is the Saucy Sesame Chicken; it’s one of those rare recipes that my whole entire family will eat. So why not have another ground version of an Asian dish that’s already popular and welcomed? We like ground meat over here; it’s very practical, kid-friendly, and stretches nicely. The fresh ginger and Sriracha really balances the sweet, so I recommend not leaving them out.
2-3 tablespoons oil
1 large onion, finely diced
1 and 1/3 pounds ground beef
3 cloves garlic, crushed or 3 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
2 teaspoons fresh minced ginger
1/2 cup Glicks Soy Sauce (use a wheat-free version for gluten-free)
1/4 cup Haddar Brown Sugar
2 tablespoons Gefen Sesame Oil
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon Tonnelli Sriracha Sauce
rice
chopped scallions
Heat oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add onion and cook until very soft, seven to eight minutes. Stir in garlic and ginger. Add ground beef and brown.
Once beef is cooked through, add sauce ingredients: soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, water, and sriracha sauce and cook for a few additional minutes. The liquid doesn’t need to get thick; the rice will soak it up.
Serve beef over rice and top with scallions.
