Paintbrush icing will let your kids show their talent, and eat it too!
1 and 1/2 sticks margarine
1 egg
1 tablespoon Gefen Vanilla Sugar
1/3 cup sugar
2 cups Glicks Flour
1 and 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar, such as Gefen
1 teaspoon oil
5 teaspoons water
1 teaspoon Gefen Lemon Juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
You can use any basic cookie dough recipe, or use the one above.
Mix together all the ingredients until smooth dough forms. This can be done by hand.
Roll out on baking paper and use any cookie cutter according to your liking.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes.
In a large bowl, mix the confectioners’ sugar with water, lemon juice, and oil.
Add the vanilla extract, mix well until smooth. The texture should be the thickness of honey. If texture is too thick, add a drop more water.
Divide icing into five small plates. Mix a few drops of food coloring into each plate to create assorted colors.
Use a small paintbrush to brush icing onto cookies. The icing will harden on the cookie after about five to 10 minutes.
If the paint hardens, just mix it really well again and that should help bring it back to the original texture.
