I found that most of the pulled beef recipes out there were too sweet for my palate. I don’t usually enjoy sweet meat as I think it takes away the delicious natural flavors of the meat. So I created this perfectly balanced recipe that has enough savory spices to counter the sweet sauce.
3-4 lb brisket
2 T olive oil
1 T salt
1 T black pepper
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp coriander
1 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup honey
1 and 1/2 T brown sugar
2 T barbecue sauce
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Drizzle the meat with olive oil. Combine the spice rub and gently rub into both sides of the brisket.
Heat a cast iron skillet or a coated pan and sear the meat for about 5 minutes on each side.
In a separate bowl, combine sauce ingredients. Pour over the brisket and bake for 3 hours.
Pull with 2 forks.

Will this only work with second cut brisket, or first cut as well?
I think it would work with both.
