This is a cross between meatballs, hamburgers, and stew—and oh, so good!
1 pound extra-lean chopped meat
1 egg
2 heaping tablespoons Gefen BBQ Sauce
1/4 cup cornflake crumbs
oil, for sautéing
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, crushed or 2 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
1 potato, peeled and cubed
2 carrots, peeled and cubed
1 stalk celery, diced
16 ounces Tuscanini Tomato Sauce
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
In a medium-sized bowl, combine chopped meat with egg, BBQ sauce and cornflake crumbs. Form into about six medium-sized patties. Set aside.
In a large frying pan, heat oil. Add diced onion and sauté for about five minutes, until golden. Add crushed garlic and sauté for an additional minute. Add potatoes, carrots and celery. Mix.
Place the patties all around the pan, over the vegetables. Pour tomato sauce over patties and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Cover pot and cook on medium to low heat for 45 minutes. Serve hot over rice.
