Diets The flavor maker in the pizza with its beautifully bright color takes on that restaurant vibe with this flavorful, easy-to-make and freezer-friendly sauce.
If you’re looking for fast and easy, a readymade store-bought pizza sauce will yield near-perfect results…the key word being “near”!
What I most enjoy about this tomato sauce is that it doubles as a calzone condiment that’ll excite your taste buds and leave everyone wanting more…often making that “freezer-friendly” aspect of it a little irrelevant, since there’s nothing left.
Yield: enough sauce for 3 pizza recipes
2 (12.2-ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes
1 (16-ounce) carton Tuscanini Tomato Sauce
1 onion, diced
3 to 4 cloves garlic, finely diced, or 3 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1/3 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon basil
1 and 1/2 teaspoons Gefen Oregano
Place all the ingredients in a large pot over a medium flame. Bring just to a boil, and then remove from heat and allow to cool (you don’t want to burn or caramelize anything, to maintain the rich sweetness of the tomatoes).
Once cool, blend using an immersion blender.
