Diets This salty, caramel-y, and crunchy brittle is simplicity at its finest. They are easy to create yet look so elegant, befitting any occasion, and they freeze really well!
35 saltines (1 sleeve)
1 cup (2 sticks) margarine
1 cup light brown sugar
1 and 1/3 cups Glicks Chocolate Chips
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Spread out the saltines on a flat baking sheet.
Melt margarine and brown sugar in a saucepan over low heat for a few minutes, until it turns a nice caramel color, then pour over saltines.
Bake for five minutes, then remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with an even layer of chocolate chips. Use an offset spatula to melt the chocolate chips and spread into an even layer. If chocolate is not fully melting, return to the oven for one minute, then spread evenly.
Freeze for 20 minutes before breaking up the brittle.
