These hamantashen will be a big hit with the boys, especially those who are sober enough to actually enjoy it.
3 tablespoons grapeseed oil, or any oil of choice
16 ounces shredded green cabbage
1 large red onion, sliced thinly
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
4 beef franks, sliced thinly
1 package (2 sheets) Gefen Puff Pastry dough
4 egg yolks
black and white sesame seeds
15 ounces apricot jam, such as Tuscanini Apricot Fruit Spread
1 and 1/2 teaspoons grated ginger or 1 and 1/2 cubes Gefen Frozen Ginger
Heat oil in a large skillet and sauté cabbage, onions, salt and pepper for 15 minutes. Add hot dogs and continue sautéing for another seven minutes. Let cool.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Roll puff pastry dough out on a floured surface and cut out circles. Fill each circle with a tablespoon of filling. Brush a small amount of egg yolk around the edge of the dough, then pinch the corners to create a hamantash shape. Brush more egg yolk on the outside of the dough, then sprinkle with black and white sesame seeds.
Bake for 22 minutes.
Mix jam and ginger in a small saucepan. Cook for four to five minutes over low flame, stirring constantly.
