Diets Sweet, salty, and crunchy … a great snack to take anywhere or serve right at home.
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon (heaping) Gefen Cinnamon
2 teaspoons (heaping) Pereg Ginger
1 teaspoon Pereg Allspice
1 teaspoon (scant) powdered cloves, optional
4 egg whites
1 pound raw cashews
1 pound peanuts
1 pound raw almonds
shelled pumpkin seeds, to taste
shelled sunflower seeds, to taste
In a large bowl, combine first six ingredients.
In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until frothy and combine with spices. Mixture will become syrupy. Pour one package of nuts at a time into the egg white mixture until all nuts are coated.
Spread onto large cookie sheet. Bake at 200° for 2 1⁄2 hours, stirring every 1⁄2 hour.
