A simple syrup transforms a handful of nuts into an elevated snacking experience during those times when a houseful of people is looking for something to nosh on.
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon crushed garlic or 1 cube Gefen Frozen Garlic
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups walnuts
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Lower heat and let cook until it reaches an amber color.
Add garlic, salt, and walnuts and continue to stir for another few minutes until nuts are very sticky.
Remove from heat and pour onto a baking sheet lined with Gefen Easy Baking Parchment Paper. Transfer to the top rack of the oven for a few minutes to make the nuts crispy.

I tried this recipe without the garlic, to use in a salad. I found that the syrup didn’t turn amber; wondering if anyone else noticed the same?
