Every Shabbos my father would buy onion dip at the local takeout. When I got married, my husband was amused that we’d spend so much money for a tiny container of this dip, when it was so much better homemade! So he taught me how to make it. Since then, anyone who ever tasted it asked for the recipe.
1/2 vidalia onion
1 and 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons oil
salt
pepper
garlic powder
onion powder
Dice the onion and sauté in the oil until lightly browned. Place the onions with the oil in a one pound container.
Next, dilute the half cup sugar in a drop of hot water. Mix until it dissolves. Add it to the container.
Fill the rest of the container with the mayonnaise. Add spices to taste. Stir and enjoy!

I have not tried it yet but may see if some stevia replaces the sugar …. Would it still work?
Yes!
Good but a bit too sweet Next time I would use a lot less sugar. OK otherwise
