Easy-to-follow recipe for stand-out coleslaw- and pastrami-topped beef burgers. Perfect for grilling season! A Cooks Compete winner.
1 pound (454 grams) ground beef
1 egg
1/3 cup Gefen Bread Crumbs
1/3 cup French fried onions, crushed
1 tablespoon Glicks Ketchup
1 tablespoon Gefen BBQ Sauce or other barbecue sauce
1/2 teaspoon Tonnelli Sriracha
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 medium onions, diced
2 tablespoons oil
6 ounces (170 grams) pastrami, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
8 ounces (226 grams) coleslaw mix
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup Gefen Mayonnaise
1 tablespoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 lightly toasted regular-size buns or 10 slider buns
mustard, for spreading on the bun
Combine all the coleslaw ingredients and let sit for at least 15 minutes.
Mix all the burger ingredients until well combined and form into four regular-sized patties or 10 small ones.
Grill on outdoor grill or grill pan for six minutes on each side.
Sauté the onions in oil over medium-high heat until soft and translucent, eight to 10 minutes.
Add the pastrami and continue cooking for another five minutes.
Spread mustard on bun. Top with one beef patty, some of the pastrami mixture, and some coleslaw. Serve immediately.

Use less thyme though that was probably a mistake thyme can be overpowering
