With layers of onion jam, turkey deli, beef fry, spicy mayo, not to mention the pickles and tomatoes, this is indeed the ultimate turkey sandwich.
Yields: 2 sandwiches
8 slices Tirat Zvi Honey Glazed Turkey or flavor of your choice
4 slices of sourdough bread, toasted
1 to 2 tablespoons Gefen Spicy Mayo
lettuce
8 slices of tomato
1 large sour pickle, sliced thinly on a mandoline
6 slices beef facon, cooked until crispy
onion jam (recipe below)
1/4 cup Gefen Olive Oil
2 Spanish onions, thinly sliced into half moons
1/2 cup Heaven & Earth Coconut Sugar or sugar of your choice
2 tablespoons Tuscanini Balsamic Vinegar
salt, to taste
Start by making the onion jam. Heat the oil in a skillet and sauté the onions over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, until lightly browned.
Add in the coconut sugar. Let the sugar melt into the onions then stir and cook for an additional five to six minutes. Add in the balsamic vinegar and salt. Simmer and stir occasionally until it reaches a thick jam-like consistency.
To assemble the sandwich, spread spicy mayo on all four slices of toasted sourdough bread. Divide up the onion jam, honey-glazed turkey, beef facon, lettuce, tomato, and pickles between the two sandwiches.
