Diets This yeast dough recipe can be the base for so many sweet baked goods, from cinnamon buns to babka and rugelach.
2 ounces fresh yeast
1 cup warm water
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
9 cups Glicks Flour
2 eggs
2 teaspoons Gefen Vanilla Sugar
1 and 1/2 sticks margarine
1/2 cup oil
1 cup orange juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
In a medium bowl, place yeast, warm water, and one tablespoon sugar. Allow to proof for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, in the bowl of an electric mixer, place dough ingredients. Add yeast mixture and mix until a smooth dough forms.
Transfer to a large bowl, cover, and let rise for an hour and a half. Dough may be a little sticky but avoid adding flour just yet; once it rises it’ll be less sticky.
