Za’atar Avocado Salad

My cousin Jaclyn S. is not only a most inspiring teacher, incredible mother, and dedicated wife, she is also a hostess with the mostest who has an extraordinary hand in the kitchen. One Shabbos, Jaclyn made a salad with avocado and za’atar which inspired this fresh and delicious dish.

Ingredients

Za’atar Avocado Salad

  • 1 container cherry tomatoes, sliced

  • 2 avocados, diced

  • 1/2 jalapeño pepper, minced

  • 1/4 cup red onion, minced

  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed or 2 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic

  • 1 can hearts of palm, sliced

  • 1 teaspoon Pereg Za’atar

  • 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper

  • juice of 1/2 a lemon

  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)

  • 2 tablespoons Gefen Olive Oil

  • sesame seeds, for garnishing

Directions

1.

Combine all ingredients except sesame seeds. Allow to meld about 30 minutes for best flavor, or serve right away, topped with sesame seeds.
