Is it possible that you meant to say the Malach Refoel was the one sent to save Lot?
According to Chazal the Malach Michoel only had the assignment – to announce the coming birth of Yitzchak. Malachim usually have only one tafkid. Chazal say that Malach Refoel was sent to assist in the healing of Avrohom Avinu and as a Malach of Rachamim he was also the one who assisted in saving Lot (a variation of the theme of Rachamim – so still one tafkid).
