After 31 years, I am pretty skeptical when it comes to tasting new products at Kosherfest. Still, there were a few items at this year’s show, which ended on November 13th, which certainly caught my attention. I loved the Tauri-Gum, which is CBD-infused vegan chewing gum. All legal, of course, and available in mint, blood orange, and pomegranate. I was intrigued by the meatless products by Zamaze. Their bacon, BBQ brisket, chicken, beef, and burgers looked and tasted like meat. I was impressed by Emes’ charcuterie showcase. Their meat is dry-cured for 3 months in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment without smoking or cooking it. Their beef-jerky tasted incredible! Kudos to MOMPOPS on their Fresh Fruit “MINI” Ice-Pops, which are pareve, use real fruit, no added white sugar (just a dash of organic agave nectar), allergen-friendly, and are under 10 calories, and less than 5 grams of carbs and sugar.

The meatless products, the diversity of flavors in some of Mikee’s sauces, the variety of wines from around the world, and the international exhibits are all part of what’s next for Kosher cuisine. Imagine Pakistan, Korea, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and about 20 other countries exhibited there. International cuisine and themes are trending, as well as the other new products I tasted and described here.

This year’s Kosherfest boasted 1500 new buyers, including buyers from Winn-Dixie, Shoprite, Jewel Osco, and Costco, and many other foodservice buyers. There were 105 new booths and more than 300 new items.

Overall, Kosherfest 2019 was one of the best yet! I enjoyed meeting my foodie friends, cookbook authors, and bloggers. I can’t wait to see what next year has in store!
