add or remove this to/from your favorites

Hi, we’re Shoshi and Tzippy Newman. Two sisters under the age of 12 who love to bake for Shabbat! Join us as we bake up easy, kid-friendly treats for Shabbat each week!

We’re back again! We hope you had an amazing Pesach and that you are ready to get back into making amazing desserts for Shabbos with us! This week we are making a super easy version of Krembo in honor of our love for Israel. We actually were lucky enough to visit Israel this past Sukkot right before the war broke out. It was an amazing trip we will remember forever. We love finding little ways to connect to Israel to keep it fresh in our minds always. We decided to try making a shortcut version of the famous Israeli snack called Krembo.

There are two ways to shortcut it. One is even easier than the other. For one version, you will pipe marshmallow fluff onto a round cookie (we used vanilla sandwich cookies), and for the other you can make your own cookie crust in a 9×13 pan, and then cover it with marshmallow fluff and then dark chocolate. Both are yum! The cookie version will look a little more like the real thing.

Krembo

Step One:

Clear your counters!!

Step Two:

Wash your hands!

Step Three:

Gather your ingredients:

(We are going to give instructions for the cookie version.)

1 18-ounce package of vanilla sandwich cookies. (You also can use chocolate if you’d like!)

1 container marshmallow fluff

1 package chocolate chips

Step Four:

Gather your equipment:

Piping bag with tip (or you can use a ziplock like we did)

1 baking sheet lined with parchment paper

Step Five:

Open all the sandwich cookies and take out the cream.

Step Six:

Put the marshmallow fluff in the microwave for 10 to 20 seconds (leave the cover on!).

Step Seven:

Remove from microwave and use a spatula to get all the fluff into a piping or ziplock bag.

Step Eight:

Line up all your cookies on a baking sheet. Cut a tiny hole at the bottom of your ziplock bag. Squeeze the ziplock to pipe a swirl of fluff onto each cookie. Keep going until you are done with all the cookies.

Step Nine:

Put it in the freezer to harden for an hour or so.

Step Ten:

Melt the chocolate chips in a glass cup or narrow bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time. Take the cookies out of the freezer. Dip each cookie into the melted chocolate and put it back on the baking sheet. If you want to get fancy, you can top the chocolate with sprinkles. Return to freezer to harden the chocolate, and serve when they’re frozen.

Mmmmmmm they are so delicious! Think of Israel when you eat them!

Enjoy!!

See ya next time! Bye!
