What happens when you combine the best part of an apple crisp with a baked apple? The answer is simple: this! These crumbs are like those delicious bits you always want to pick off your favorite muffins — but with a whole tray of them, no need to feel guilty!
3 apples (I like Honey Crisp)
juice of 1/2 lemon (or about 1 and 1/2 tablespoons Heaven & Earth Lemon Juice)
1 teaspoon Gefen Cinnamon
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 and 1/2 cups Mishpacha Flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons Gefen Cinnamon
pinch salt
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon Gefen Vanilla Extract
6 tablespoons oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with Gefen Parchment Paper and set aside.
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and stir to form coarse crumbs.
Spread crumbs on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, stirring halfway through. Set aside.
Cut each apple in half and use a melon baller to remove seeds. Sprinkle lemon juice over each one and place in a nine- x 13-inch (20- x 30-centimeter) baking dish.
Combine cinnamon and brown sugar in a small bowl, and sprinkle half the mixture over the tops of the apples. Add water to the remaining brown sugar mixture and pour into the pan around the apples. Cover and bake for 35 minutes.
Remove pan from oven and uncover. Sprinkle prepared crumbs over the top of each apple. Bake for an additional 20 minutes, until the crumbs are crispy and the apples are soft.
