Anyone who knows me from childhood remembers my Bubby and her famous cookies. Anyone who received her loving care packages — sent worldwide — was fortunate. Since her petirah we have all attempted to duplicate Bubby’s perfection, but we are all missing one integral ingredient — Bubby’s love.
3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons Gefen Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups Mishpacha Flour
1 cup ground walnuts
1 (12-oz./340-g.) package Glicks Chocolate Chips
1 cup sprinkles or other add-ins of your choice
Preheat oven to 375°F (180°C).
Cream shortening, margarine, sugars, and eggs. Add in vanilla, baking soda, and salt. Slowly beat in the flour and ground walnuts. Add in chocolate chips, sprinkles, or add-ins of your choice.
Refrigerate dough for 10 minutes. Drop dough by tablespoonful onto a Gefen Parchment Paper-lined baking sheet.
Bake for 9–12 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.
Yields about 75 cookies
