Diets Soft, flaky strudel wrapped around a sweet apple-cherry filling. This delicious dessert can be completed in just about an hour.
1 package frozen flaky dough or 1 recipe Easy Flaky Dough
5 pounds Cortland apples, peeled and shredded
2 (1-pound) cans sour cherries, drained
4 cups challah crumbs
2 cups sugar
Roll out half of dough to less than 1/8-inch thickness.
Combine cherries with apples.
Mound half of apple mixture along the length of pastry dough. Sprinkle half of challah crumbs over apples and dough. Sprinkle apples and dough with half of sugar.
Roll up dough. Place onto lined cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining half of dough. (Do not rise.)
Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes or until lightly golden.
