Fried onions and sliced fried hot dogs? Yum! This easy to make, family friendly meal is sure to become a favorite when you’re looking for something simple and quick to make. Serve them alone or with the creamed beans, which can be made using leftover chickpeas. If you like a little more flavor, add some salt, pepper and crushed garlic to the creamed beans when blending.
2 cups cooked chickpeas, such as Gefen Organic Chickpeas
1 cup cooked Gefen Lima Beans
3–4 ounces water (about 1/3 — 1/2 cup)
1 large onion, diced
1 clove garlic, crushed or 1 cube Gefen Frozen Garlic
1/2 pound frankfurters, thinly sliced
Combine chickpeas, lima beans, and water. Blend until smooth. Mixture should be heavy but not thick. Add a bit more water if necessary.
Sauté onion in oil. When golden in color, add garlic and frankfurters. Sauté for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Reheat bean mixture. Serve as a base for sautéed franks or serve a scoop of beans with franks nearby.
