Start Cooking

Prepare the Hamantaschen

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, margarine, 1/3 cup sugar, one egg, and vanilla. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for two hours.

  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  3. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface until about 1/4-inch thickness.  Using a large cookie cutter, cut into circles.

  4. Add some pie filling to the center of each circle (about half a tablespoon).

  5. Pinch the corners to form hamantaschen and brush the dough with a lightly beaten egg.

  6. Sprinkle with sugar on top.

  7. Add the hamantaschen to the baking sheet.

  8. Bake until golden brown, around 20 minutes.
