Easy, Healthy, and Delicious Fruit Compote

Ingredients

Fruit Compote

  • 10 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored and sliced

  • 12 pears, peeled, halved and cored

  • 1/2 pound strawberries (fresh or frozen)

  • 1 cup blueberries

Directions

1.

Place apples, pears and strawberries into a medium saucepan. Add just enough water to avoid burning.

2.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until soft, approximately 50 minutes. Let cool and blend. Add blueberries. Serve chilled.

What kind of pears to use?

I would suggest a barlett, anjou or bosc. However, I think any pear would work.

Can I blend the blueberries with the compote? If yes, should I cook the blueberries with the compote?

Yes, you can, and I would cook it together. The only thing is that blueberries will give the compote a more blueish/purplish color, and it won’t look as red as the picture.
