I know this may be a little time-consuming, but it’s worth every second. Since I started making this it has become a staple in my freezer!
10 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored and sliced
12 pears, peeled, halved and cored
1/2 pound strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup blueberries
Place apples, pears and strawberries into a medium saucepan. Add just enough water to avoid burning.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until soft, approximately 50 minutes. Let cool and blend. Add blueberries. Serve chilled.

What kind of pears to use?
I would suggest a barlett, anjou or bosc. However, I think any pear would work.
Can I blend the blueberries with the compote? If yes, should I cook the blueberries with the compote?
Yes, you can, and I would cook it together. The only thing is that blueberries will give the compote a more blueish/purplish color, and it won’t look as red as the picture.
