Mashed potatoes with a twist! These doughless knishes are quick, easy, simple, and elegant. Perfect for a Yom Tov or Shabbat meal, make and serve these in an oven-to-table dish for easy presentation and clean up.
Sauté onions in oil until golden.
Combine onions with all ingredients, mixing well.
Place into a nine- x 13-inch pan (or see variation). Brush with eggs and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for one hour at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cut into two-and-a-half-inch squares.
Notes:
Freezes well after baking. For a simcha, this can be used as an entree, topped with mushroom sauce.
Variations:
May be formed into balls or scopped with an ice cream scoop for individual portions. Brush with eggs, sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 to 30 minutes.

does anyone know if can sub oil for margaring in this recipe
You should be able to but I haven’t tried it so not sure if the measurements would be exactly the same. My concern would be if it became too oily.
