Everyone wants a chicken burger for a healthier alternative, but a good recipe is hard to come by. This dynamic BBQ sauce comes to the rescue, keeping the healthy burger moist and flavorful.
1 and 1/2 pounds ground chicken
1 teaspoon parsley
1/2 teaspoon Gefen Garlic Powder
1/4 teaspoon cilantro
1/4 teaspoon Gefen Basil
1/4 cup Manischewitz Matzo Meal
1 egg
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1 onion
3 to 4 cloves garlic, crushed or 3-4 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
1/2 cup molasses
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
In a medium bowl, combine chicken, parsley, garlic powder, cilantro, basil, matzah meal, egg, salt and pepper. Use a fork or rubber spatula to combine the ingredients, as ground chicken is very moist and can be more difficult to work with.
Shape mixture into patties and place on a baking sheet. Broil or grill for seven to 10 minutes per side.
Yield: 6 burgers
Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté until onion is soft, about five to seven minutes.
Add molasses, chili powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cover and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until sauce thickens, about 15 minutes.
Drizzle sauce over chicken burgers.
