Homemade Creamed Sweet Herring

  • 1 Granny Smith apple, peeled and diced finely

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 tablespoon dill, finely chopped

  • 4 herring fillets (I use white), rinsed and dried, sliced into 1/4-inch pieces

Directions

1.

In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, vinegar, and sugar. Add a pinch of salt and pepper and mix well.

2.

Add apples, onion, and dill and stir to combine.

3.

Gently mix in herring pieces and toss to coat well.

4.

Chill 12 to 24 hours before serving.
