Simple and easy to prepare honey cookies are delicious any time, but are traditionally served on Rosh Hashana, the Jewish new year, to symbolize our desire for a “sweet” year.   Check out our complete collection of Rosh Hashanah recipes for mains, sides, soups, desserts, and more inspiration for the holiday.   Yields 4 dozen cookies

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 pound Gefen Honey

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 6 eggs

  • 1/2 pound shortening

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

Prepare the Cookies

1.

Combine all ingredients. Mix until smooth.

2.

Form into one-inch balls.

3.

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.

From the looks of the cookies, they have shortening. Also the recipe calls for it. But margarine will yield a moister cookie.

hi you call for shortening. what is better 8 oz of crisco or 2 sticks of margarine

The Crisco yields a higher and stiffer cookie. The margarine will make them spread.
