Diets When you’re looking for a sweet side dish, this should be your next go-to. You can use white or brown rice for this easy dinner side dish, saute it with onions and add in the orange juice and raisins. The orange flavor complements any main dish and the sweetness of the golden raisins is light and not overwhelming, creating a perfect blend of sweet and savory.
1 teaspoon Gefen Olive Oil
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 cup white or brown rice, raw
1 cup water
1 cup fresh orange juice
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Heat oil in a medium-size frying pan.
Add onion. Sauté until tender. Add rice; stir well. Cook, stirring constantly, for two minutes.
Add water, juice, and raisins. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
Add salt and pepper; toss lightly.

Yummy This rice is definitely on the sweet side, so if that’s not your thing you might not like it, but I liked it. I forgot to buy raisins so I had to make it without them, and it was fine, but I’d like to try it again to see if the raisins add another dimension of flavor to the dish.
