Diets Cooking a perfect brisket doesn’t have to involve many steps and ingredients. Sometimes, the simpler, the better, which is definitely the case with this brisket. The braising method and simple ingredients heighten the flavor of the meat and create a super-tender brisket – and lots of sauce. Yum!
2 tablespoons Gefen Olive Oil
1 medium onion, diced
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper
1 cup Alfasi Cabernet Sauvignon or other dry red wine
15 ounces Tuscanini Crushed Tomatoes
1 teaspoon paprika
3 pounds brisket
In a pot, heat oil. Add onion, salt, and pepper and sauté until translucent, about seven minutes.
Add wine and deglaze, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pot and mixing them into the onions.
Add tomatoes and paprika.
Bring to a simmer, add brisket, and cover.
Simmer until meat is tender, about two and a half to three hours.
