THIS is the salad that adults go crazy over and the kids pick out the juicy pieces of meat. I usually like to bring this for Shabbos when I go to my siblings or in-laws. Be blown away by this incredible dressing full of flavor! A great Shabbos day appetizer as it can be served cold – and this can also be a full meal.
1 lb sandwich steak
3 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp dry red wine
salt
pepper
garlic powder
1 box or bag of lettuce, kale, arugula or spinach
1 chopped pepper (I like to do 1/2 red and 1/2 yellow)
1 medium chopped cucumber
1/2 cup whole wheat croutons
1/2 cup light mayonnaise
2 tbsp ketchup
gravy from meat
salt
Preheat oven to 375F.
Spray a baking sheet and place sandwich steak on top. Make sure pieces don’t touch each other. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and garlic powder on both sides. Drizzle with olive oil and wine.
Bake for 5 minutes, flip meat and bake another 5 minutes. Save the gravy for the dressing. Wait until meat cools for about 5 minutes and then cut into small squares.
Pour all the meat gravy into the mayo. Add a squirt of ketchup, a dash of salt and mix.
When you’re ready to make the salad, add the meat, veggies, croutons and dressing together and enjoy!
Can be served cold.
