Diets File this idea away: Got too many challah rolls for mishloach manot? Turn them into challah kugel! Here’s a classic, easy recipe.
1 medium challah, soaked in water, crust removed, excess water squeezed
3 to 4 eggs
1 apple, finely grated
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
2 to 3 ounces walnuts, chopped
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine all ingredients except for walnuts. Mash and combine very well with a potato masher.
Add walnuts. Bake in a four- x 10-inch loaf pan for 35 to 45 minutes.
