Diets The wine, raisins, and apple give this challah kugel its sweetness – only a touch of added sugar is called for. We call that a win!
2 and 1/4 cups light grape juice, or Jeunesse Chardonnay or other light wine
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon Gefen Vanilla Extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Gefen Lemon Juice
3 eggs, beaten
4 cups challah cubes
1/4 cup raisins
4 ounces margarine, softened
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 apple, grated (optional)
Blend first six ingredients.
Combine challah, raisins, margarine, cinnamon and apple. Mix well.
Pour blended mixture over challah and mix until well coated.
Pour into a nine inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
