We recently asked our participating bungalow colonies what makes a great BBQ—and which dishes or traditions are absolute must-haves. Here's what they had to say!

Fly fans! Many on Amazon to suit your vibe but they really keep the fly’s away from the food that’s out.

Aside from ketchup, mustard, pickles, potato salad seems to be a favorite. We have a lot of large family bbqs here and potato salad is on most tables.
In my family, my father is a perfectionist and he makes the potato salad every Sunday. We use 5 pounds of red potatoes (peeled). Each potato is cut to a perfect cube and the celery, red onion, and pickles are diced to perfection as well. Shredded carrots add some color and full fat mayo. The only spices needed are salt and pepper. Be mindful though that after the potato salad sits in the refrigerator for a while, you need to check and often add more salt right before serving.
