A twist on traditional arayes, these meat-filled pitas are a quick and easy dinner or fun appetizer for a Shabbat meal.
1/4 cup Gefen BBQ Sauce (or try Rorie’s low-carb sugar-free BBQ sauce)
4 cloves garlic, pressed through garlic press or 4 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
2 and 1/2 kilograms total minced meat and minced chicken, preferably not lean (I did half and half)
1 tablespoon Montreal steak spice
pitas (I used 6 medium and 20 mini ones)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Mix together all ingredients, except pita.
Slice pita partially open and stuff each pita with meat mixture and flatten to ensure even cooking.
Spray baking sheet liberally with non stick cooking spray and place stuffed pitas on pan. Spray again with non stick cooking spray.
Bake for 20-25 minutes (small for 20 minutes, large for 25 minutes).
