Basic Ice Cream with Variations


Ice cream is the perfect treat any time of year in our book. This recipe can be made with whipped cream or dairy-free.


Make the Ice Cream

1. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add sugar, and beat until peaks form.
2. In a separate bowl, beat whip cream until peaks form. Add yolks, vanilla sugar and desired flavoring.
3. Fold egg whites into yolks, mixing together gently but thoroughly. Freeze in a 9- x 13-inch pan.

– For a marble effect, add 3 tablespoons cocoa, dissolved in boiling water to one fourth of the batter. Swirl to marbleize. (1/2 cup ready liquid marble mix can also be used.)

– For mocha flavoring, add 2 tablespoons coffee and 1 tablespoon cocoa, dissolved in minimal amounts of water.

– For strawberry, add 1/2 pound blended strawberries.
Add 1 tablespoon lemon extract, top with nut crunch.
