This is truly the VERY BEST homemade Sloppy Joe EVER! It is quick, economical, and reminiscent of your childhood favorite, only better.
2 pounds ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, crushed or 4 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
1 (8-ounce) can Gefen Tomato Sauce
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 and 1/2 to 2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon fish-free Worcestershire sauce such as Gefen
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons BBQ sauce
12 ounces orecchiette pasta or pasta of choice, prepared according to package directions
In a large skillet, over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add onion; sauté for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add crushed garlic; continue to sauté for three minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add tomato sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, and BBQ sauce. Bring to a boil. Add ground beef, breaking it into small pieces. Stir until beef separates, becomes crumbly, and is completely incorporated into the sauce.
Press mixture down to ensure all the meat is cooking through. Cook for a few minutes; stir. Repeat every few minutes for 15-20 minutes, until beef is completely cooked.
Toss beef with prepared pasta.
