Ingredients

Meat Pita Pizzas

  • 2 pounds ground meat

  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika

  • 1 tablespoon Pereg Garlic Powder

  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoon Glicks Ketchup or bbq sauce

  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce, additional for glaze

  • 10 mini pitas

Garlic Aioli

  • pinch black pepper

  • water, to thin

Sweet Potato Fries

  • 4 sweet potatoes, peeled

  • drizzle of olive oil

  • salt, to taste

Directions

Prepare the Meat Pita Pizzas

1.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

2.

Spray a baking sheet with oil spray and place the pitas on top.

3.

Mix together the ground meat, spices and sauces.

4.

Separate the ground meat mixture evenly on each pita and spread the meat on the pita to fully cover the whole pita.

5.

Brush the tops with a bit more sweet chili sauce.

6.

Bake uncovered about 30 minutes.

Prepare the Garlic Aioli

1.

Mix together and add water just till it becomes a sauce you can easily drizzle over the pitas.

Prepare the Sweet Potato Fries

1.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

2.

Julienne the sweet potatoes using a julienne peeler or spiralizer.

3.

Place onto a Gefen Parchment lined baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Toss to coat then spread out evenly. Bake uncovered for about 30-40 minutes giving them a toss once while baking to be sure it evenly bakes. Each oven is different therefore check often to be sure they don’t burn.

4.

Once out of the oven shake on salt to taste.

Notes:

Fries are best served fresh or spray again with oil before reheating uncovered to crisp up again.

What a flashback. My mom made these in the 1970s. It was the big treat for birthday parties. One difference she used hamburger buns and bbq sauce.
