This cholent kugel is like a hybrid of kishke and kugel. This gluten-free kugel cooks beautifully in the cholent and will come out perfect by Shabbos morning. This is a really yummy addition to your Shabbos seuda!

Ingredients

Chulent Kugel

  • 2 cooked potatoes, mashed

  • 3 carrots, grated

  • 1 onion, minced

  • 4 tablespoons Gefen Potato Starch

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper, optional

Directions

Prepare the Cholent Kugel

1.

Knead all ingredients into a stiff loaf.

2.

Adjust starch and liquid accordingly and wrap in foil.

3.

Drop into boiling cholent. Cook together until cholent is ready to serve.

Is it possible to wrap and cook in parchment paper instead of foil?

You can try! Make sure to wrap it tightly.

Is this recipe missing eggs or oil? It doesn’t list any liquid ingredients?

The cooked potatoes should hold everything together beautifully without eggs or any other liquid.
