Diets Poutine is a classic Canadian dish of home fries smothered in gravy and topped with cheese. This kosher version replaces the beef stock with vegetable stock and added miso paste and nutritional yeast to mimic the beef’s hearty flavor.
2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, thinly sliced
pinch of salt
1/4 cup Glicks Flour
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
2 tablespoons miso paste
1 teaspoon coffee grounds
2 cups Manischewitz Vegetable Broth
4 cups Beleaves Frozen French Fries, cooked according to package directions
1 cup cheese (either cheese curd or mozzarella)
Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Add onion and a pinch of salt. Sauté until softened and lightly golden brown.
Add flour, nutritional yeast, miso paste, and coffee grounds to the pan. Mix everything so it’s well combined.
Slowly add in broth in small amounts, mixing to combine each time.
Once gravy is thick, mix in French fries and finally cheese.
