This elegant chicken appetizer is pretty much a classic and for good reason – it’s a filling crowd-pleaser that never goes out of style. Better yet, it’s dead-simple to pull off especially if you start with store-bought puff pastry.
1/2 (21-ounce) package Gefen Puff Pastry Dough or Easy Flaky Dough
1 pound ground chicken breast
1 onion, grated
1 roll, soaked and squeezed
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon Gefen Garlic Powder
Roll out dough thinly on well floured board, cutting dough into two parts.
Mix ground chicken with all remaining ingredients.
Place half of chicken mixture lengthwise across one dough. Roll up dough over filling. With sharp knife, mark indentations every two inches. Repeat with second dough.
Brush with additional egg. Bake for one hour at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, or until golden. Serve with Mushroom Sauce.
Cut dough into four-inch squares.
Place heaping tablespoon of filling in center of each square. Fold dough to form triangle. Seal edges with tines of fork.
Brush with additional egg. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30–40 minutes. Serve with Mushroom Sauce.

Roll Hi,
What do you mean by ‘1 roll, soaked and squeezed’? Do you soak bread? Then do you grind it? Can I use a pita bread for this?
Thanks
It means a bread roll soaked in water and squeezed out. You do not need to grind it, when it is soaked, it easily blends with the ground chicken. A pita might work but it is usually a coarser consistency and it might not be the same. The truth is you could also use bread crumbs. I personally would make it without either, I would just add another egg.
Can these be frozen I defrosted frozen chicken for this so I cannot refreeze it raw can I bake them and freeze them and reheat later how would you suggest packaging them and defrosting?
Yes, just defrost it and then bake in a preheated oven until hot all the way through. You can also brush it with a final egg wash and give them an extra minute or two in the oven. To freeze it I would double wrap it in foil and then put them in a freezer zip lock bag.
