I made it and the gnocchi dissolved. Why is that?

There was possibly too much water or it was cooked for too long :/

Yes- Brisket is a good substitute for short ribs, with the caveat that short ribs tend to be more fatty and juicy throughout.

Can I cook this in the oven and rewarm as needed?

Yes, you should be able to cook it low and slow.

Great Recipe! I’ve made it multiple times with many different meats and it’s come out delicious every time.
I made it before YT in the crockpot without the gnocchi, froze it and then added the gnocchi when I warmed it up, it was licked up! I love Yossi Weisz’s recipes.

Or will the gnocchi turn gummy or fall apart? Alternatively, how far in advance can it be made? Coming up on a 3-day yomtov, and sending food to someone (so I can’t make it fresh). How many days in advance can I put this up and then refrigerate?

I would not recommend freezing cooked gnocchi.

I made this and it was delicious! However, the gnocchi made the sauce very thick and pasty. Is there anyway to avoid that?
Thank you!

Maybe try adding more liquid- either chicken stock or water next time so the sauce isn’t as thick.

Hi Yussi,
I’d like to serve the Short Rib Gnocchi on a Shabbos morning. But, I’m worried the gnocchi will disolve after so many hours on the plata overnight. Is this a concern?

Thank You, Chaim from Israel

Hi Chaim, we asked Yussi and he said it won’t dissolve as long as you use potato gnocchi. Enjoy!

Cheek meat is a much bigger piece than shorty ribs? Approx how many lbs of short ribs is suggested ?
Thanks.

Yussi says you can use as much beef as you’d like. There is not specific amount 🙂

How would you suggest this be put up in a crockpot for shabbos day? Especially when shabbos starts early and lunch isn’t for a while?
