Ingredients

Buttercream Frosting

  • 1 teaspoon meringue powder (if you have it; if not, leave it out)

  • 1/4 teaspoon fine salt

Directions

1.

Cream shortening and whip in electric mixture on medium speed.

2.

Scrape down sides and add vanilla and salt.

3.

Next, gradually add sugar, then the meringue powder.

4.

Once all well combined, add in liquid slowly until desired texture is met.

5.

Cover with a damp towel if using the same day. If it’s for another day, refrigerate or freeze. Take out a few hours before using and use paddle on electric mixture to smooth before ready to frost.

You can use clarified butter, or ghee & use a one-to-one ratio.

I don’t see whip in the list of ingredients. How much whip is added to the shortening?
