This is a great dish to make in advance. It’s easy to serve the first night or day meal of Rosh Hashanah. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 pounds chuck steak

  • 5 carrots

  • 3 large sweet potatoes

  • 1 and 1/2 cups prunes

  • 1 large orange

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger

Directions

Prepare the Beef

1.

Peel and cube the sweet potatoes and carrots, and place in the bottom of a crockpot. Add the prunes and the chuck steak.

2.

Cut the orange in half, and squeeze the juice over the whole mixture. Cut the remaining orange into pieces and place into the crockpot, as well.

3.

Sprinkle generous amounts of salt and pepper over the mix, then add the honey, soy sauce, water, wine, cinnamon and ginger.

4.

Set the crockpot to low and let it cook for six to eight hours.
