Try these Tostones with Chanie’s Black Bean Chorizo Chocolate Chili!
green plantains, peeled
Gefen Canola Oil, for frying
Tuscanini Sea Salt, for finishing
fresh-squeezed lime juice or Heaven & Earth Lime Juice, optional
Slice the plantains on the diagonal, about 1/2-3/4 inch thick.
Shallow fry the plantains on both sides until lightly golden brown.
While the plantains are still warm, place between a sheet of Gefen Parchment Paper and press down firmly with a plate to flatten.
Return the flattened plantains to the oil and fry a second time until crisp and golden. Sprinkle with salt and a squeeze of lime (optional) before serving.
