If you’re looking for a healthier way to enjoy a treat, these whole-grain cookies fit the bill.

Yield: 30 (3-inch) cookies

Ingredients

Whole-Grain Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 3/4 cup applesauce

  • 1/2 cup oil

  • 1 and 1/4 cups brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup sugar, or sweetener of your choice

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 egg whites or 1/3 cup Haddar Egg Whites

  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

Prepare the Cookies

1.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with Gefen Parchment Paper and spray with nonstick cooking spray.

2.

Add all ingredients to a bowl in the following order: applesauce, oil, brown sugar, sugar, eggs, egg whites, vanilla, wheat germ, apple juice, oats, baking powder, baking soda, and chocolate chips. Mix well. The batter will be a bit wet, so let it sit for at least 10 minutes.

3.

Drop large spoonfuls of batter (about the size of a small egg) onto the prepared baking sheet and press down to shape cookies. Bake 16 to 20 minutes.

Notes:

These cookies are meant to be large. If you decide to make small cookies, reduce the baking time.
